Dignified Sanitation for Builds Where Traditional Systems Do Not Work
The Solarid Toilet is a waterless toilet system designed for locations where traditional sewer and septic infrastructure is impractical or unavailable. Built around patented dry-flush technology, the system handles waste without using water and requires no connection to a municipal sewer or septic system. Core markets include off-grid residential builds, cabins, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), tiny homes, and semi-permanent and mobile structures.
Toilets account for roughly a quarter of total indoor residential water use in the United States. Each Solarid unit can save between 10,000 and 15,000 gallons of clean water per year compared to a conventional toilet. The United Nations has identified global water scarcity as an irreversible challenge in many regions, affecting developed and developing markets alike. Waterless sanitation is one practical response to that reality.
How It Works
A foot pedal activates a piston that moves waste directly into a sealed external containment tank. The cycle operates nearly silently and completes in approximately 24 seconds. The system is completely sealed and odor-free after every flush, with built-in smart sensors for operational safety.
The sealed containment design means no odor enters the living space and no gases escape into the structure at any point. The Solarid Toilet looks and operates like a standard toilet, requiring no adjustments for residents or guests.
A 6-inch waste pipe and a single moving part handle the core function. That mechanical simplicity keeps installation flexible across a wide range of build types and minimizes long-term maintenance. No chemicals are required at any stage, and there is no complicated upkeep schedule.
The system runs on 120V AC or 12V DC and consumes approximately 1 kWh per month. It connects to standard utilities or a 12V battery charged by solar panels, making it fully compatible with off-grid energy setups. A backup battery is included for power outages. An onboard microprocessor tracks usage and displays system status on an LCD screen, so the property owner always has a clear picture of the system's status.
Where It Fits
The Solarid Toilet is designed for locations where traditional sewer and septic infrastructure is not practical or available. It fits naturally across a range of build types.
Tiny homes and small dwellings.
The system fits within compact layouts, requires no water supply plumbing to the toilet unit itself, and operates independently of septic infrastructure. It supports the resource-conscious design approach on which small dwellings are built.
Accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
On lots where existing septic capacity is already allocated to the primary structure, the Solarid Toilet enables adding a fully functional bathroom to an ADU without modifying or expanding what is already in place.
Off-grid homes and cabins.
Remote properties, hunting cabins, seasonal structures, and full-time off-grid homes benefit from a sanitation system that operates entirely independently of municipal water and sewer infrastructure. The Solarid Toilet is solar-compatible, low-power, and built for reliable use across climates.
Water-scarce locations.
In regions where water availability is limited by drought, geography, or regulation, the Solarid Toilet removes toilet water use from the equation entirely. It supports builds in environments where water conservation is a practical requirement of the project.
Waste Management
When the standard 250-gallon containment tank reaches capacity, it is serviced by a standard septic provider. No special equipment or unusual process is involved. The system is also compatible with composting setups or other waste containment systems, giving property owners flexibility in how waste is ultimately managed based on land, location, and local regulations.
Product Details
The Solarid Toilet is 3D printed in the United States and available in three configurations: Standard, Compact, and Squat. It supports unlimited daily flushes and operates across climates. The system starts at $1,495 for the toilet and $2,495 for the toilet with the 250-gallon waste containment tank.
Become a Pilot Partner
We are looking for builders, developers, and property owners who are ready to put the Solarid Toilet to work on a real project. Pilot partners get early access to the system, direct support from our team, and the opportunity to shape how waterless sanitation fits into the builds of the future.
If you are working on a tiny home, ADU, off-grid property, or any build where the Solarid Toilet fits into your plans, we want to hear about it.
