One of the KBB Editors’ Note Favorite Products from KBIS 2026

For the first time, the Solarid Toilet was on display at KBIS 2026 in Orlando, one of the largest building and kitchen industry trade shows in North America. Among thousands of products across the show floor, KBB Online recognized it as one of the most innovative finds of the year.

That recognition reflects something simple. The industry is starting to look more closely at how sanitation systems are designed, where they work, and what they require to operate.

A Waterless Toilet That Works Like Any Other

The Solarid Toilet delivers a familiar flush toilet experience without using a single drop of water. A foot pedal activates patented dry-flush technology, moving waste into a sealed external containment tank in about 24 seconds.

The experience is straightforward. The cycle is nearly silent. Power usage averages around 1 kWh per month, making it compatible with standard electrical setups or solar.

Each unit can save between 10,000 and 15,000 gallons of clean water annually compared to a conventional toilet. Toilets account for a significant portion of indoor residential water use, and global water availability continues to tighten in many regions. The question is becoming more practical: where does it make sense to continue using drinking water for waste removal?

Built for Places Traditional Systems Cannot Reach

At KBIS, the most consistent reaction was how quickly people could place the product into real-world applications.

Tiny homes. ADUs. Cabins. Remote properties. Worksites. Communities where sewer access is not available or septic installation is not feasible due to cost, soil conditions, or permitting constraints.

The Solarid Toilet removes that dependency. It opens up possibilities for projects that would otherwise stall at the infrastructure stage.

That shift in conversation is part of what stood out on the show floor. This is not a niche use case. It fits into a wide range of builds where flexibility matters.

Simple, Reliable, and Designed to Last

The Solarid Toilet is manufactured in the United States using 3D printing and offered in three configurations: Standard, Compact, and Squat.

The system is built with one moving part, which keeps operation simple and consistent over time. It supports unlimited daily use and performs across a range of climates. A backup battery maintains function during power interruptions, and an onboard microprocessor tracks usage and system status through an LCD interface.

When the 250-gallon containment tank reaches capacity, it can be serviced by a standard septic provider. The system is also compatible with composting setups, giving property owners flexibility in how waste is managed.

A Different Way to Think About Sanitation

Recognition at KBIS signals a broader shift in how the industry is approaching water use and infrastructure. The Solarid Toilet sits at the intersection of those conversations, offering a solution that aligns with how people are building, living, and adapting to different environmental and logistical constraints.
